COMING SOON: FALL TERM 2022
29th August to 27th November

Themeweekends and Workweekends in Eck en Wiel

Every two weeks we have a new lecture in Eck en Wiel. You are welcome to come for the weekend, starting at Friday night with a lecture usually connected with the theme of Saturday, continuing with a movie discussion on Saturday night and finishing with service on Sunday morning. The whole weekend has a cost of 40 euro p.p. (all inclusive: meals, room and participation in the program). But you can also just come for the saturday lecture, at 11 a.m., which is free! If you want to stay for lunch, at 13 p.m., there's a cost of 5 euro p.p. Check the dates and lectures and subscribe to participate through our contact page. The lectures are sometimes in English and sometimes in Dutch, but we can always provide translation, in both languages.

Lectures and Movie Nights in Utrecht

The Utrecht program is up and running again! Everyone is welcome for our new lecture series and film evenings at Kromme Nieuwegracht 90 in the center of Utrecht. These evenings begin with a cup of coffee, and we close after having a good conversation together! The lectures happen every two weeks on Tuesdays night, at 20 p.m. And movie discussions also every two weeks, on Friday nights, at 19:30 p.m.

During the fall term we'll present a series of lectures inspired by the questions below. Although it's a series, it's not necessary to follow all or even in order to make sense of the topics. Each one has it's own point of view and subject.

Why would I believe today?

How relevant is the Christian faith today? Maybe it provides inspiration for one person or a useful motivation for another, but how necessary is it to see the Christian message as truth as really true? N. T. Wright claims in his recent book “Broken Signposts” that if we want to take certain human longings seriously – longings for justice, truth, love, spirituality, beauty, freedom and power – then the Bible gives us a very strong explanation for why that is possible. These human drives can be seen as ‘signposts’ pointing to the source of our life and its meaningfulness. In our series we will take these seven signposts as a starting point to make our own case for the relevance of biblical revelation for today.

The movie evenings are moments where we watch a movie together and have a discussion afterwards. The titles are choosen by our team, and usually cover a wide variety of genres and subjects. From classics to the lastest Oscar winners, we try to bring movies which might stir some good conversations, opinions and ideas for our discussion. Most of the movies are not necessarely "Christian movies", but the discussion is usually a great opportunity to talk about current cultural productions and how they relate to the Christian faith.
